Salvation

Salvation- Deliverance from danger or death; especially deliverance from all that separates people from God.

Salvation in the Old Testament:

Pass through, pass through the gates! prepare the way for the people. Build up build up the highway! Remove the stones. Raise a banner for the nations. (Isaiah 62:10)
The rebuilding of the city of Jerusalem shows a picture of salvation. The repairing of the road illustrates the Israelites' return to Jerusalem, the way that leads to salvation. God makes salvation available to all His people.

Sharon will become a pasture for flocks, and the Valley of Achor a resting place for herds, for my people who seek me. (Isaiah 65:10)
Sharon was a swamp beside the Mediterranean south of Mt.Carmel. Achor, which means trouble, was a desert area near the Dead Sea. Both areas were unsuitable for grazing land. But God's salvation would transform the land as dramatically turning these two places into good pasture. The same is true that when you surrender to God and know that Jesus is Lord, His salvation transforms your person to be more like God.

Salvation in the New Testament:

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame." For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile- the same Lord is Lord and richly blesses all who call on Him. For, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:9-13)
Salvation comes by faith. Genuine faith is evident in a loving relationship with God. Even though this relationship was broken by sin, God gives us a way back through Jesus, the mediator who restores our relationship. We are saved when we believe Jesus died and was resurrected, and we wholeheartedly trust in Him as our only way to eternal life. Such convictions will always be reveled and confessed by one's words and way of living.

For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. (1 Corinthians 15:22)
In this Scripture, the author Paul, did not describe a universal salvation, implying that all will be saved. Every human being faces physical death because of sin, every believer in Christ Jesus gains eternal life because of the resurrection.

Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:13-14)
Life in Christ involves a tension between two equal but contrasting truths. By faith, believers have already attained God's acceptance. But in life no one yet lives out the fullness of Christ's goodness and love. So in this scripture Paul argues to live up to what we have already attained. To be fully confident in our salvation, yet at the same time avoid the pride and complacency that could inhibit our continued growth in grace.

See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ. (Colossians 2:8)
Two notions are contained in the idea of the basic principles of the world. One is that salvation comes through superior knowledge. The other is that salvation requires superior behavior. When Paul was a pharisee, Paul had once believed this himself, and some at Colosse apparently still did.

These are just a few of many scriptures on salvation. The basic overview is that God wants for everyone of His children to be saved. The ways to be saved from eternal fire are to believe and say Jesus is Lord, to believe that Jesus died and was resurrected to life and that He ascended to Heaven. It is that by faith that we are saved. God desires for all to be saved. Once we are saved or life transforms. We desire to help other. Our love for God's word strengthens. We begin to understand. When we are overtaken by God's Holy Spirit it is as if we sit on a stick of dynamite and it explodes. The Greeks describe it with the word "Dynamos," where we get the word dynamite.

I pray today that everyone who partakes in this blog will get a greater understanding for God's word and that you will all apply things learned into your daily lives. Everyday that I am well i will post a new topic and Scripture to back that topic. I encourage all brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus to participate and encourage others through this blog. Everyone is welcome! I love you all and GOD BLESS!
